REFINE the Union & Scale Packaging System for New categories and channels
In 2020, I moved from business essentials to the furniture and tech team at Staples to focus on strategic projects and the development process. One of my first projects was to refine the Union & Scale packaging guide and outline every detail for manufacturing in a system of diverse structures and sizes for furniture, storage and decor.

Store Walks
The existing guide did not include decor, so we examined decor setups and packaging at major retailers to understand which structures would best fit common planograms and the Union & Scale graphic system. With these. insights we added frame slip sheets, exposed boxes for clocks and mirrors, hang tags and stickers to the system.
The Packaging Guide
As Staples evolved, our design team flexed to learn all about packaging development and launch hundreds of skus. In over 180 pages, we refined and defined every manufacturing detail for our furniture brand including dual language, types of structures and graphic scaling keys. We continue to communicate this guide to vendors to efficiently develop large complex assortments.
Bold yet afffordable
With an unboxing experience unmatched at this price point, Union & Scale shows affordable workplace furniture does not have to sacrifice for bad packaging. The double hit of white on the carton’s exterior emphasizes the brand’s defining ampersand. Bold flood color interiors and instruction manuals indicate to the specific collection color used across the brand’s 6 collections.
Today Union & Scale continues to execute the packaging system for diverse products including lighting, clocks, desks and more.
